Norwegian Cruise Ports

There are a number of Norwegian cruise ports which are frequently called on by cruise ships in the area. Norway offers some of the most breathtaking coastal scenery in the world but also offers a number of beautiful cities with many sights and attractions. Norwegian cruise ports include population destinations such as Oslo, Bergen and Geiranger. Another of the popular Norwegian cruise ports is the capital of Norway, Oslo. With a population of 596,900 Oslo is by far the largest city in Norway. It is located on the southern coast of Norway close to the border with Sweden at the northern most end of the Oslofjord. Oslo is surrounded in all directions by hills and mountains with 40 islands just within the city limits and numerous parks and open spaces. Oslo also possesses a number of historic buildings including Sagene Church, Akershus Fortress and Stortinget, the seat of Norway’s parliament. Oslo also has a particularly noteworthy military museum, tracing Norwegian military history back over one thousand years as well as a historical open air museum.

Cruises from Geiranger

Not as well known as the other two Norwegian cruise ports but certainly worth a visit is the small tourist village of Geiranger with a population of a mere 250 people. Geiranger is nestled amongst some of the most impressive and stunning scenery in the world including the Geirangerfjord itself and the Seven Sisters Waterfall. Other attractions include the historic farms of Knivsfla and Skagefla which are accessable from Geiranger. Geiranger is overshadowed by the mountain peak of Mount Dalsnibba. The village is located in the north-western region of Norway and is an extremely popular cruise destination.
