Norwegian Cruise Line Ships

Starting in the mid 1960’s, Norwegian Cruise Lines began outside of Oslo, Norway and provided cruises to affluent passengers aboard their single, crowing jewel, built by the most prestigious and experienced ship building company in all of Norway. In 2000 a shift occurred in the company that led to new management. With the new management came new policies, and the older ships that had amassed in the Norwegian Cruise Lines fleet were slowly sold off to make room for newer, more impressive ships that fit with the vision for the future of the company.

The Norwegian Epic

An example of the finest ships across the world, the Norwegian Epic was built in 2010 and has been wowing its passengers time and time again due to its sheer size and broad spectrum of activities. Just a few of the things you’ll find aboard the Epic include:

  • A two-story tall video display of Wii games available for people of all ages
  • Over a dozen and a half places to eat including but not limited to:
    • Cafes
    • Restaurants
    • Dining halls
    • Bars
    • Lounges
  • A rock wall for climbers
  • Pools and hot tubs conveniently placed near all wings of cabins
  • Majestic suites for unforgettable experiences of lavish living and pampering

Though they include tickets to dinner shows including performances by the Blue Man Group and Cirque du Soleil in the price of cruises aboard the Epic, the cost starts very low. For a simple studio cabin you’re only going to pay $37.50 a night! That’s less than most hotels!

Service from Miami

Leaving Miami on a regular basis for two-day getaways and trips down to the Caribbean, Bermuda and other Florida ports, the Norwegian Jade is an amazing vessel to behold. In addition to the Jade though, there are other ships sailing for Norwegian out of the Miami port: Miami happens to be the headquarters of the company!

Other ships in the Norwegian fleet that are found at destinations across the world include this full list of following ships:

  • Norwegian Dawn
  • Norwegian Epic
  • Norwegian Gem
  • Norwegian Jade
  • Norwegian Jewel
  • Norwegian Pearl
  • Norwegian Sky
  • Norwegian Spirit
  • Norwegian Star
  • Norwegian Sun
  • Pride of America
  • Project Breakaway

What to Expect Aboard

When you’re aboard a Norwegian cruiser, as consistent with the “freestyle cruising” policy, you are the shot-caller. You will have the opportunity to partake in any and all events that are offered or none at all if you’re in favor of lounging by the pool or beach all day. If you prefer wave-running versus guided tours while you’re on your destination stops, you’ll be able to hop on a waverunner and go. What’s best about the experience of going on a Norwegian cruise is the fact that even for low budgets, the price of a studio or inside cabin is very reasonable between the ships on the Norwegian fleet. Expect to find two-day getaways for a mere $149 in an inside cabin with entertainment costs and several other things included!
